PESHAWAR: A soldier was martyred and seven terrorists were killed in two separate confrontations between security forces and terrorists in North Waziristan on Wednesday, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military's media wing announced that an intelligence-based operation (IBO) was carried out in the Miramshah area of North Waziristan in response to information of militant presence. Security troops targeted the insurgents' location, killing four.
Three more militants were killed in another encounter in the district's Spinwam neighborhood during a firefight.
However, during the operation, 34-year-old Lance Naik Muhammad Amin of Faisalabad chose martyrdom.
On December 7, the ISPR announced that 22 militants had been killed in three operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Six security men were killed during the raids.
In the Gul Imam region of Tank district, nine militants were killed and six were injured in an IBO. Another operation in North Waziristan killed ten militants, and another in Hangu's Thall district killed three militants.
Two security personnel killed
On Wednesday, three separate attacks in Balochistan killed two security officials and injured two others, according to officials.
Security forces raced to the scene and transported the corpse and injured to a hospital in Gwadar. A search effort has been begun to locate the attackers.
In Khuzdar, armed men targeted Levies officer Abdul Hafeez, a naib resaldar, as he drove his car.
The officer died from multiple bullet wounds on the scene. Police took his body to the local hospital and suspected it was a targeted killing. No group took instant blame for the incident.
