India rejects another solution for the Champions Trophy.

Pakistan was set to host an ICC event after many years, with preparations for the 2025 Champions Trophy well underway. However, issues developed when India declared its refusal to tour Pakistan.

In response, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been aggressively looking for a solution. Key conversations recently took place in Dubai, where PCB officials met with ICC executives and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi spoke via video chat with BCCI Secretary Jay Shah.

During these meetings, the PCB presented a “Partnership or Fusion Formula,” proposing that teams from Pakistan and India have their matches at a neutral venue, Dubai, for all ICC events hosted by either nation over the next three years. This formula tries to increase justice and resolve long-standing conflicts between the two bodies.

The BCCI first expressed interest in the neutral venue suggestion for the Champions Trophy, but progress has been slow. Over the weekend, the BCCI cited vacations as a cause of delays, with further closures in UAE offices exacerbating the situation. With Jay Shah taking over as ICC Chairman, the proposal's fate remains uncertain.

The standoff has heightened emotions, as broadcasters prepare to convene in Dubai on Thursday. They expect the ICC to provide the Champions Trophy schedule, and any further delays could result in stern questions from rights holders, putting additional pressure on the governing body.

Last Friday's ICC Board of Directors meeting in Dubai, which lasted only 15 minutes, emphasized the severity of the situation but provided no resolution. PCB officials, including Chairman Naqvi.

If the hybrid model is rejected, the Champions Trophy may be shifted to a location other than Pakistan. While a final verdict is expected soon, the case may go to a vote, in which India's influence might be pivotal.

Meanwhile, the PCB is looking into legal measures to defend its stand. Consultations with UK-based lawyers have already commenced, indicating that the board intends to take action if necessary.
