Updates to Find My and Additional AI for Certain iPhones in iOS 18.2 Public Beta 2

IOS 18.2

On November 12, one day after releasing the third developer beta of iOS 18.2, Apple made the second public beta available. About two weeks after Apple made iOS 18.1 available to the public, the beta was released. The most recent beta offers more AI features to some developers and beta testers, while iOS 18.1 provided some fixes and new features to all iPhones and some Apple Intelligence features to others. The beta also includes several new features that are available to everyone and aren't part of Apple Intelligence.

I advise downloading this just on a device other than your primary device because it's a beta. The upgrade may be glitchy and the battery life may be short because this isn't the final version of iOS 18.2, so it's advisable to save those issues on a backup device.

There may be additional features available on your iPhone when iOS 18.2 is released, as the beta is not the final version of the software. When Apple plans to make iOS 18.2 available to the general public is yet unknown.

New Features

These are a few of the things that iOS 18.2 may soon bring to your iPhone. Please note that the AI features are now only available to developers and beta testers who own an iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, or iPhone 16 model. You won't be able to use those functions on any other iPhone.

With the iOS 18.2 beta, Apple makes it simple for everyone to seek assistance discovering misplaced objects. You may use the Find My app to find items like your MacBook and AirPods. In the beta, you have two more choices when you tap one of your things after selecting Find My > things: Provide the item's location and contact details.

Find My will provide a link for you to share with others if you activate Share Item Location. This will allow them to alert you in the event that they locate your misplaced or missing item. With more people traveling and losing their luggage at airports or leaving things behind, this might be especially useful as the holidays approach. However, these links expire in a week, which might not be enough time to locate them.

Show Contact Info allows people to connect to misplaced objects so they can figure out how to get in touch with you and return your item.
