Protesting PTI workers reach Minar-i-Pakistan

 Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) workers defied the Punjab government’s protective measures on Saturday, enduring heavy tear gas and baton charges to gather at Minar-i-Pakistan in a show of strength.

The PTI leadership had already declared that there would be a surprise in store in response to the strict security measures. PTI members from Lahore and the surrounding areas held off on starting their planned march towards Minar-i-Pakistan till the evening on Saturday.

Police used a lot of tear gas on them and beat them with batons as they marched through the city, and some demonstrators attacked back. Still, the protesters persisted in their march, yelling things like "Imran teray jaanisar, beshumaar" (Imran, your devotees are numerous), "Le ke rahein gay Azadi" (We will take independence), and "Imran Khan Zindabad" (Long live Imran Khan).
