The head of ISPR asserts that the military is not against any political party and does not "pursue political agendas." According to Gen. Chaudhry, there have been over 30,000 IBOs this year that have killed 90 "extremists" and 193 security personnel. He begs citizens to do more to prevent terrorism.
ISLAMABAD:
The army warned that exploiting military troops for political or personal benefit invites legal action, hinting on Thursday at a possible military trial for former prime minister Imran Khan.
During a media briefing at the Inter-Services Public Relations office in General Headquarters, military spokesman Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry declared, "Under military law, anyone who uses individuals subject to the Army Act for personal or political gain and evidence of such actions exists, will be subject to the law taking its course."
The general tried to duck a question concerning Imran Khan's possible military trial by saying that the issue was under consideration and that the journalist's inquiry was speculative. He did, however, also specify the circumstances in which a civilian could be prosecuted under military law.
